JACK FELL DOWN – EITHER WAY EP

Southern Fried Records has been putting out some seriously audibly arousing releases of late. Kashii’s ‘Rome EP’ and the forthcoming Luca C & Brigante ‘Flashlight’ (more on this to come – absolutely incredible, and there’s a remix from Solomun and Tale of Us) have made serious waves. This EP from Irish duo Jack Fell Down is no exception. It’s my personal belief that if you are a producer in the world of house music, using the word ‘Jack’ for a track title, a night, an album or more seriously your production name is very serious business. Jack is the God of house music, so don’t take his name in vain. Luckily these two anonymous (so trendy) fellows haven’t, they know who Jack is and they’re worshipping him just like they should. They first made waves earlier this year with another EP on Southern Fried ‘Anyway EP’, think 90s, think house, think ‘that’s so on point’. Jaymo & Andy George also opened their Moda Black Comp with one of their cuts. So the credentials are good, now to the tunes.
‘King Of Clubs’ is a solid track that begins off the EP, it’s sexy and quite slow, the kind of thing you’d like to sway to at 5am. But the real stars of the show have got to be ‘Need In You’ and particularly ‘Ease In Me’. ‘Need In You’ has this lovely sexy vocal (Emma Rossi) from the start and big bubbly bass, it’s unbelievably catchy and subterranean. ‘Ease In Me’ though, I think it might be the one, a future anthem, same sexy female vocalist, a little bit more stripped back. It literally ‘eases you in’ (for want of a better phrase) and then drops down into this enormous reverberating bouncy bass line. This whole release is a homage to the 909 (shout out to my brethren!) and has the perfect balance of old school elements with a seriously fresh citrus twist. The bass literally gives you a hug from the speakers. If ‘Ease In Me’ came on in a warehouse I would hug the speaker. Spanking release. Wonder who they are.
